Doubtful Sound is one of the most remote places on earth. Nearly uninhabitable by humans this expanse of untouched nature sees some of New Zealand’s most extreme weather. Receiving 120-240 inches of rainfall annually Doubtful Sound has incredible dense vegetation on the surrounding peaks. 1,381 ft deep, it is the deepest of the South Island’s fjords. Lucky for us on this day a pod of local dolphins who patrol the sound fishing, came by to play in our wake. They curiously swam sideways close to the surface looking up to often times directly into our eyes assessing us as we them.
