Limited edition fine art print of 6 – In the fall of 2023, I was hiking through the Hoh Rainforest in Olympic National Park when I herd something moving towards me in the thick brush. At first my radar went up because I thought it could be a bear, but as the noise drew closer I could see it was a beautiful elk. I made my presence known to keep both of us safe and allow the elk to control the situation. It could sense it was in no danger and went back to foraging in the forest. The late fall colors surrounded the animal making for a beautiful backdrop for this shot. Photo © copyright by Derek Nielsen.
