Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania
Limited Edition Fine Art Print of 1. While there are zero giraffes in the Ngorongoro Crater, this morning, we did find them high up on the rim in the dense fog. Seeing these graceful giants slip in and out of the fog is a visual I will never forget. In all my time visiting Africa, I have never seen a fog blanket like we had on this particular morning. My camera’s autofocus was having trouble picking up their bodies, so I had to switch to manual focus. The narrow road we were on did not have room for two cars, and with traffic behind us, I had to get the composition I wanted fast. All those early years of shooting with manual focus film cameras really paid off as I was able to lock in the exact shot I wanted, letting the giraffes slip off into the fog.
