Wyoming 2020

Limited edition print of 6 – As fall temperatures began to take over for the warmer days of summer, early morning fog began to form at Oxbow Bend inside Grand Teton National Park. I wanted to get out ahead of the other photographers, so I arrived at this location 90 minutes ahead of sunrise. The light worked its way slowly into the new day. Photographers gathered along the shore, setting up their desired location, and I could see a group of people looking to launch a canoe to take in the sunrise. I knew this would give the image a different feel, so I began to use them in my compositions. I was surprised by how many other photographers around me were upset they were on the scene. I felt lucky. Just as the sun began to hit the peaks of the Grand Tetons, this image came together. Soft and beautiful. It invokes a sense of adventure in me. Photo © copyright by Derek Nielsen
