Limited edition fine art print of 6 – Meteora Greece is one of the most fascinating places I have ever photographed. Its towering rock cliffs decorated with ancient monasteries provide a surreal backdrop for beautiful landscape images. This place is the stuff fairytales are made of. Some 6 million years ago, the ocean floor rose violently, exposing the mixture of sandstone and conglomerate rock to the elements. As time passed, erosion from water and wind carved these dome pillars into what we see today. For over 50,000 years, humans inhabited the caves surrounding the area. It made for a perfect place to seek shelter while also receiving refuge from attack. Around the 12th century, monks constructed the monasteries high atop the sheer rock pillars to avoid persecution.
