Watchman’s Gone

Limited edition fine art print of 6 – As a tribute to the late great Gordon Lightfoot and to the name of the prominent mountain in the background of this image, Watchman’s Gone holds a special place in my heart. The Watchman is a famous mountain in Zion National Park located near the park’s West entrance. Taken from the bridge leading into the heart of the park, I scouted this famous location for a few hours, looking for the best composition. Shooting from an elevated location, finding anything besides this iconic shot was difficult. Thankfully, the fall colors peaked, and the sunset was spectacular. Gordon Lightfoot was a staple in my household during my upbringing. I hope he would be proud of the way this image came together as a tribute. Photo © copyright by Derek Nielsen.
